Axis is undertaking a large External Envelope Refurbishment contract to re-clad an estate comprising mixed residential, commercial and education property blocks in South West London.
The six (modular build) property blocks are a combined 68 storeys, house 839 students and provide 221 one and two bedroom flats.
The £8m project, which is estimated to take 63 weeks, will involve carefully removing and storing 19,537 m2 of cladding and replacing materials and fixings deemed no longer compliant. This will include installing proprietary fire breaks and cavity barriers, prior to reinstalling all panel/tile coatings.
Whilst refurbishing the cladding, Axis will also inspect and repair windows, carry out remedial work to components, features and finishes and decorate where required to restore the property to a good standard.
Once completed the planned maintenance project will ensure the 4 – 17 storey properties’ compliance with the latest standards and grades for external insulation and cladding. It will minimise the risk of fire and re-establish fire safety compliance by providing better fire resistance and adequate fire stopping compartmentalisation. The cladding will also continue to improve comfort through better thermal performance.
