Axis’ Joe Ibrahim Visits 10 Downing Street

Posted on

Axis’ Managing Director Joe Ibrahim was invited to attend an advisory committee meeting with government at Number 10 Downing Street hosted by The Chartered Surveyors Training Trust (CSTT).

CSTT supports 16 to 24 year olds to become qualified surveyors regardless of their academic, social or financial circumstances. Axis has been part of CSTT for the last 3 years and has recruited 15 apprentices through the scheme, all of which are on a 5 year course.

Joe was invited to attend the event as he is a member of the ‘trailblazers’, a group of employers who work together to develop new apprenticeship standards for occupations in their sectors. A variety of organisations joined Joe at Number 10 including; Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), two leading universities, London Underground and other experts within the industry.

When asking Joe about CSTT, he said: “As I started my career through an apprenticeship scheme I strongly believe in its ability to create talented, skilled individuals for the future. At Axis we have committed to employ another 4 apprentices through CSTT this year. This will continue to see us leading the industry with over 10% of our workforce being apprentices”.

Christina Hirst, CEO of CSTT, expressed her thanks to those who attended and said: “I felt this was a very positive meeting. It is great to see the sector coming together like this and to have the support at a high level in Government”.
