Axis Volunteers Skydive for Demelza

Posted on

On Thursday 30th July, 5 Axis volunteers took to the skies to complete a charity skydive in aid of Demelza.

The event was held at Headcorn Airfield, located in the picturesque Kent countryside.

The team arrived at 10am with some eager to experience the adrenaline rush for the first time, whilst others simply eager to get the jump over and done with.

The volunteers included Kerisa Ford (CAD Designer), Courtney Feagan (Senior Resident Liaison Officer), Shelly Noller (Call Centre Administrator), Antonio Cardazzone (Apprentice Plumber) and Oli Baxter (Marketing Assistant).

Post-jump, Oli said: “Freefalling through the clouds was the best experience I have ever had. When you are looking out the door before you jump it makes you appreciate what you have and I am happy that I was able to raise money for the amazing charity that is Demelza. It was also a great way to meet other members of Axis that I hadn’t met before and to be part of the ‘Axis High Flyers Team’ is something I’ll always be proud to say I was a part of”.

Kerisa however, said: “In all honesty it was the most terrifying experience I have ever had. I could have only willingly fallen out of a plane at 12,000ft for such a great charity like Demelza. It has made me appreciate the little things which we all take for granted.”

The team raised over £3,000, exceeding their original target of £2,000.
