Peabody Housing Association held its annual Resident Neighbourhood Charter Event at Lillie Road Estate, West Brompton on October 13th and was attended by over 150 residents.
Axis had a stand and Contracts Manager, Gaz Mehet, and Resident Liaison Officer, Alexandra Toal, attended the event where residents had the opportunity to ask questions to their repairs service and meet Axis personnel, whilst also enjoying an action-packed day of community engagement and activities.
Residents were able to discuss a variety of topics from the different ways to report a new repair to the date of future resident DIY workshops.
Support and advice from other local organisations including Age UK, the local credit union, Diabetes Awareness and community safety teams amongst others, were also available on the day.
The neighbourhood charter event also involved the opening of the community hall that Axis’ Painting team voluntarily redecorated for the residents for free. The hall is the centre of community activity for residents, offering a venue for fitness and exercise clubs, estate meetings and mother and baby classes which is now a more welcoming and clean place.
Resident Charter Events are a great way for Axis to build on relationships with residents, it breaks down formal barriers and enables residents to share their views with their housing association and repairs contractor in a relaxed environment.
Gaz says: “The day was all about having fun and meeting the Lillie Road Estate residents, it was a very successful day. It is always great to meet residents who have experienced our service in person and to receive feedback. Many of the residents I spoke to complimented our repairs process and were overall very positive, I look forward to attending the next neighbourhood charter event.”
