During February half-term Kyla Fry, Senior Resident Liaison Officer hosted an Axis Fun Day in partnership with Octavia for residents of Peregrine Court and Kestrel Court in Hounslow.
Kyla hosted the event which took place on Wednesday 15th February from 11am-2pm in the main hall of Lampton School. She explained, “We are coming to the end of our works with Octavia which involves several scattered properties so it is hard to do community projects. Thankfully 2 blocks and 4 houses are situated next to each other so it made sense to do a community event there, especially with it being half-term”.
The fun day was originally due to take place in one of the courtyards of the blocks, but after speaking to a local school to see if they could lend some tables and chairs for the event, they also offered their main hall free of charge.
On the day Kyla was assisted by Barry Eve, Site Manager in addition to three volunteers from Octavia who helped with the stalls and interacted with the residents. Residents of all ages attended and participated in a range of free activities including bouncy castles, a games corner, cake decorating and arts and crafts. There was also a raffle with prizes kindly donated by subcontractors Ultimate Scaffolding, and DMJ Painters.
Speaking of the event Kyla said, “The residents have been happy with the works that we have completed so we thought it would be nice to give something back. It was the icing on top of the cake for them – they were all really grateful”.
After the success of this fun day, Kyla is looking forward to hosting another one over the summer period.
