The Axis Foundation donates £53,000 to Sparks Medical Research Charity

Posted on

The Axis Foundation recently donated £53,000 to Sparks Medical Research charity to help continue their pioneering children’s medical research.

Sparks is part of the Great Ormond Street Hospital charity family and supports clinicians and scientists conducting research into treatments and cures of medical conditions affecting children’s health. Statistically, 1 in 30 children born in the UK everyday has a condition that will affect them for life. Funding is essential to charities such as Sparks, in order to help them to continue their ground-breaking research in illnesses and rare diseases that affect children.

The Axis Foundation was set up to fund projects and causes that are dedicated to helping improve lives. The money is raised through our annual Axis corporate donation and events we organise including our annual charity ball and supplier golf day. Axis people are also heavily involved in personal fundraising through activities that range from skydives and bake sales to dotty days and abseils.

John Hayes, Axis CEO, recognised the importance of Sparks’ medical research and felt that there was an acute need to ensure that they received funding. As a result of this, Sparks was adopted as one of the Axis Foundation’s charity partners alongside Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

Sparks believe that every child matters and it is because of this that they have spent over 25 years funding medical research into the illnesses and diseases that affect children. The Axis Foundation shares this view and believes that causes which aim to improve lives are essential and should receive as much funding as possible.

The cheque was presented at The Axis Foundation Alan Curbishley Classic Charity Golf day at the London Club which featured famous faces such as Roy Hodgson and Sir Trevor Brooking. Those who attended were able to play on a three ball team with a celebrity captain and test their skills on the green whilst raising money for both Sparks and Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
