SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING STATEMENT
to 31st March 2019

Introduction
Axis has a zero tolerance to slavery, servitude, forced labour and human trafficking (Modern Slavery) and is committed to conducting business with honesty and integrity and treating everyone with dignity and respect – just a few of our values.

We are committed to working with our partners and suppliers to raise awareness and understanding of modern slavery and eliminating the practice from the supply chain.

Modern slavery is a crime and a gross violation of human rights. It takes many forms, (eg, slavery, servitude, forced marriage, bonded labour, child labour and human trafficking), it is designed to deprive a person’s liberty by another for personal or commercial gain.

Corporate social responsibility shapes everything we do, as a partner, we are able to help our client’s fulfil their CSR responsibilities and gain alliance and support from the communities they work within including the supply chain. Operating in a fair, ethical and transparent way and treating people as such, is just one way we aim to do this.

Our aim is not just to limit any negative impact of running a business but for Axis to make a positive lasting difference through our corporate strategy, working practices and initiatives. As such, we are committed to combating the risk of modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. The requirements of the Modern Slavery Act reflect a drive to eradicate modern slavery in commercial organisations with operations in the United Kingdom. This is an important goal which has the full and unequivocal support of Axis.

Overview of Axis Europe PLC
Axis is engaged in the repair, maintenance and improvements of property
across sectors including housing, commercial and private premises. We work in partnership with owners, landlords and management companies to keep their properties safe and comfortable and in doing so deliver long-term savings, managing and maintaining their estate portfolios as well as adhoc projects.

All of Axis operations are in the UK, the success is based on a sustainable business model with many long-term customers, the business is reliant on its workforce and supply chain to ensure quality delivery to the customer.

“As a service provider, we never forget people are our business, whether they are working for us, with us or are the people we are serving. That’s why we have values such as ‘everybody deserves respect’ and the belief that ‘what’s good for the individual is good for the business’ – these underpinning principles and our policies like Modern Slavery Act and Equality and Diversity ensure people are treated fairly and ethically.” John Hayes, CEO.

Axis is acutely aware of the issues relating to modern slavery and human trafficking, its collaborative approach and ownership of its core values will reduce the risk within its organisation and to the immediate stakeholders.

Further information on our business can be found at: axiseurope.staging.wpengine.com

The company operates in the United Kingdom only and supplies and subcontracting are undertaken with UK based organisations only.

Our supply chains
We operate a Pre Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) which needs to be passed and approved before any organisation is able to supply us with goods and or services.

In order to ensure that our Supply Chain recognizes, understands and operates as the Act dictates, the PQQ disclosure confirms that they understand the terms of the Act and that Modern Slavery is not present within their business. We will not knowingly support and approve any business involved with slavery and/or human trafficking and any such occurrence will result in the removal of such an organisation from our supply chain.

Due to the nature of supply we do not consider our supply chain to be high risk.

Axis supply chain is characterised by skilled technical contractors and trades, there is a use of skilled agency labour where Axis are unable to meet demand or skill set. Due to the nature of the labour being skilled and the shortage of skilled labour in the market place we believe the risk to be low.

Agency staff are recruited through UK based organisations only.

Supply chain is reviewed annually regarding changes in their structure, nature of business.

In relation to slavery and human trafficking
Axis will look to remove the risk of Slavery and human trafficking using various techniques including the processes set out below

  • Operations having toolbox talks
  • Marketing providing communication via the intranet
  • Raise awareness through employee induction, our values and sharing
information with our supply chain. We encourage employees to report any concerns regarding activity within the supply chain. We are developing a confidential disclosure form to aid this.
  • Review supply values where they appear to be below market or reasonable rates.
  • Challenge ourselves to remove risk e.g. when on site look at the behaviours of our supply chain particularly by our Site and Health and Safety teams

Due diligence and audit processes in relation to slavery and human trafficking
Policies and procedures are followed in an effort to ensure the company’s high standards are met.

The supplier on-boarding process includes standard due diligence procedures, which helps assess the suitability of a vendor to provide goods and services to Axis against compliance to required standards.

The effectiveness of our processes
Processes are constantly reviewed and updated to meet the legislative
requirement and form a framework of governance to work within.

Training on slavery and human trafficking
All employees are made aware of the Modern Slavery Act via our learning
management system (LMS).

The Future
Axis will continue to develop its approach to better understand its supply chain and to encourage greater transparency and responsibility towards people working within them.

Axis will continue to review its supply base and procurement processes to assess what steps need to be taken to prevent, monitor and mitigate risks where supply chains may pose particular risks.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery
Act 2015 and constitutes Axis Europe Plc. slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 as approved by the Board of Directors.
